The twelve days of Christmas have been around for a long time, and there have been many different versions, both silly and heartfelt created since its inception.
There is no way of knowing for sure how the song originated, but many historians believe it was originally a form of word game played by children.
It’s first appearance in print in 1780 supports this as it was printed as a game for children in the book ‘Mirth without Mischief’.
This being ironic when the silly season can be the cause of so much mischief. These days the song isn’t used as a game but is frequently sung as a carol, and quite often with the lyrics changed.
We even have an Australian version featuring dingoes digging, koalas cuddling and an emu up a gum tree.
The twelve days run from Christmas day to the 6th of January, and in the song generally, the gifts given get more elaborate each day.

the Formats included are PES, hus, sew, xxx, jef, vp3, vip, mit, dat, dst, exp etc.
